The problem is IT development occurs without any outward appearance of progress, unlike say a new children’s hospital. The signs of outward progress are of benefit not just to the construction team but also the purchaser.
With the construction of the children’s hospital as an analogy, all the paediatricians are patiently waiting while a huge hole is made and nobody is patrolling the work-site asking “can we move into our new ward?” and “why is this taking so long?” Yet at the same time everybody can see that the orderly progress toward a new hospital is occurring as promised. With some patience all will be well.
